CASE STUDY

The road had begun to slip down the hillside and was falling apart with large cracks. Avalon fortified the road with drilled reinforced concrete piers, helical tiebacks and a reinforced concrete wall.

Design Engineer:Bob Patterson,
Patterson & Associates.
In this picture, Avalon is lowering reinforcing steel into deep drilled holes which will be poured with concrete to form drilled piers.
Here is a row of drilled piers ready for concrete.
Tiebacks are installed to grip deep into the hillside, for lateral support.
The rim of the fortification is ready to be poured, firmly attaching the drilled piers to the tiebacks.
The road is now stable; the road fortification is complete.

The edge of the road is now supported vertically with drilled piers, and the entire width of the road is supported laterally by helical tiebacks.
